Revolut, a fintech firm based in London, raised $66 million in a Series B funding round led by Index Ventures with the participation of Balderton Capital and Ribbit Capital.

Though Revolut began as a simple app, the company has grown it into a multi currency banking platform that serves as an alternative to a regular bank account. Their multi currency card is accepted everywhere MasterCard is accepted.

Revolut plans on drastically expanding their platform with this recent investment, including the addition of stocks, bonds, and cryptocurrencies as well as the option of purchasing travel insurance from the app. Revolut also wants to enter new markets in Asia and North America. The company says they plan to hold a crowdfunding event in a few weeks with the hopes of raising an additional $5 million.
