ProSiebenSat.1, the German media group with a 7.4 billion euro market cap, this morning announced its acquisition of online and mobile games publisher Aeria Games Europe (via its subsidiary ProSiebenSat.1 Games).
The agreement covers Aeria's European headquarter in Berlin, all international game licenses for PC and a handful of mobile games licenses. The deal terms were not disclosed.
All in all, the acquisition of Aeria Games Europe, a subsidiary of California, US-based holding company Aeria Games, will triple ProSiebenSat.1's games community from 27 up to 77 million gamers and more than double its portfolio of licenses from 19 to 39.
Founded in 2006, Aeria Games specializes in free-to-play online multiplayer games.
Following the takeover, ProSiebenSat.1 says it will consolidate the games operations in Berlin and rename the publisher to 'SevenGames'.
Dr. Christian Wegner, member of the company's executive board, in a statement claims the deal makes ProSiebenSat.1 one of the top three publishers in Europe overnight.
The acquisition is subject to approval by the responsible cartel authorities, ProSiebenSat.1 points out.
