February is just around the corner. Which also means that Mobile World Congress, the biggest mobile-focused event in the world, is coming soon.

That would be it for more than a decade, but February in Europe also means that it’s time for 4YFN (‘4 Years From Now’), MWC’s sister event that focuses on entrepreneurship, startups and the European and global venture capital scene.

2016 will mark 4YFN’s third anniversary and, what started as a small conference, has now become a big event that will reach 12,000 attendees and bring together 500 investors, according to the organisers.

And just like last year, Tech.eu is a proud media partner of 4YFN.

Index Ventures, Sandbox Partners, Maslow Capital Partners, DT Capital Partners, Relay Ventures, FundersClub and Notion Capital are some of the big names that will be in Barcelona. As well as keynote speakers such as Rich Miner (co-founder of Android and now a partner at Google Ventures), Mark Shuttleworth (co-founder of Ubuntu), Marcus Weldon (CTO of Alcatel-Lucent), Werner Vogels (Amazon) and Jimmy Wales (Wikipedia).

This year’s edition was officially unveiled at a press conference last week in Barcelona, where Mobile World Capital’s director Aleix Valls and 4YFN’s head Esteban Redolfi talked about the event’s three main programmes this year (Mobile, IoT and digital media), as well as new features such as Pitch The Press, where our own Robin Wauters will be carefully listening to startup’s pitches.

At the press conference, Aleix Valls also presented a report by yours truly about the Spanish (and Barcelona’s) startup ecosystem, which you can read below.
