Lisbon’s Beta-i and Madrid’s Tetuan Valley have announced a new partnership that will create a unified network of startup programs across the Iberian Peninsula.
Beta-i operates a number of accelerator programs in conjunction with corporate partners while Tetuan Valley runs pre-acceleration and training programs. The two organisations “plan to take over the Iberian Peninsula’s innovation market” with their complementary strategies and backers. They will eventually re-brand together under the one name.
The duo has plans in place for Madrid with a member of Beta-i relocating to the Spanish capital next month to work on new corporate programs, pre-accelerators, and helping Madrid startups secure funding. Beta-i said in a statement that it was also considering programs in European cities outside of Spain and Portugal.
“Although they will begin collaborations in Portugal and Spain, some of the possible futures lay in cities all around Europe. We have big ambitions, but we also now have all the resources to pursue them,” said Rocha Vieira, cofounder and CEO of Beta-i.
“I have worked personally with Beta-i over the last two years and it is clear that now it is time to join forces and become a single voice in the innovation world,” added Karel Escobar, CEO of Tetuan Valley. “With a strong hold on Portugal and Spain I see huge potential for working with big companies that have business in both countries and are looking to innovate from within.”
