Finland’s EatAndTheCity has raised €3.3 million from Wallstreet Group with participation from Gorilla Ventures, Arteel Ventures, Tekes, and angel investors.
EatAndTheCity is a white label software solution for finding and booking restaurants. It partners with media companies and publishers to integrate its platform into their sites. Most recently the startup inked a partnership with major German newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung, based in Munich, in its first steps outside of Finland.
“EatAndTheCity was originally created to be the 'Google for restaurants' in Finland,” explained Ilkka O. Lavas (pictured), CEO of City Digital, the company behind EatAndTheCity. “We noticed that a number of media companies were interested in restaurant discovery portals, as they would be able to leverage their connection with local communities to deliver a genuinely useful service and an additional revenue stream.”
The new funds will be used to expand the platform’s international reach and its partner network, which includes Bookatable and the mapping service HERE.
