Paris-based Station, the startup behind a new browser that unifies work applications in a single interface, has raised €3.25 in a seed round from Accel Partners, with participation from Webb Investment Network and Kima Ventures. Only six months old, the startup is an alumni of Y Combinator and already has 12,000 users.
Station was designed as a browser specifically for work, to cut down on distractions and the overabundance of tabs that accumulate in standard browsers like Chrome and Firefox, and help employees be more focused.
"The browser has hardly evolved in over a decade. In the meantime, companies have turned to SaaS solutions and employees have had to put these traditional browsers to an entirely different use than what they were intended for in order to get work done," said Julien Berthomier, CEO and co-founder of Station.
Station currently allows users to incorporate over 400 apps in its browser. However, its vision is to become a full blown operating system that integrates even more SaaS applications.
"The modern browser was not designed for today’s SaaS native enterprises" said Brian O’Malley, Partner at Accel. “We are excited about the opportunity to partner with Station to help create the modern workstation seamlessly unifying today’s best tools for better discovery, interoperability and collaboration without all the distractions and security risks inherent in a browser made for the consumer web."
