UK-based healthtech company Medopad acquired Sherbit as part of its US expansion

Medopad, the UK-based healthtech company that develops applications to connect patients with medical professionals, has acquired a Silicon Valley startup Sherbit for an undisclosed amount. Earlier in 2018, Medopad also opened offices in New York and San Francisco.

Founded in 2011 in London, Medopad builds applications that collect and structure patient data from medical databases, wearables, and other sources and securely transmit it to doctors. It has already partnered with an impressive list of hospitals, pharma companies, and other industry players, including Royal Free London, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, and Boston Scientific.

Medopad raised $28 million in its first round of funding in early 2018. Around the same time, it also joined the UK prime minister Theresa May on a trade mission to China, which according to the company resulted in £100 million worth of signed commercial contracts.

“We are expanding rapidly across the world and acquiring Sherbit is just the first step for us in the US,” said Medopad CEO and founder Dan Vahdat. “Sherbit has a strong track record of success working with some of the most prestigious healthcare organisations in the US, including the Mayo Clinic, Tufts Medical Center and Jefferson Health. Through this acquisition, Medopad will provide its technology to support solutions across different disease areas from rare diseases to chronic conditions.”
