Blink, a London-based app that connects frontline employees, has announced £8.2 million in funding from Partech Partners and a group of angel investors. Though publicly launching today, the app has already been deployed in over 100 organisations and 14 countries. The company opened offices in New York City and Sydney earlier this year.
Blink allows employers to send out information to frontline workers (updates, digital forms, payslips), gives workers a space to send feedback to management, and enables social connection among employees who likely don’t work in the same physical space. Over the last 15 months, the app has been developed in partnership with organisations such as Stagecoach, Domino’s, and crucially, the NHS. Indeed, the company reports its highest growth yet in April, driven by healthcare employers who adopted the app as part of a COVID-19 response.
“The COVID-19 crisis has underlined the critical role that frontline and key workers play in our society,” said CEO Sean Nolan. “The whole deskless workforce has been starved of investment. Now more than ever they need empowering with better tools so they can effectively perform their essential roles.”
Commenting on the choice to invest in the app, general partner at Partech Romain Lavault said: “It’s for the millions of essential nurses, bus drivers, construction workers or supply chain operators that run the economy. In just a year, Blink has already been adopted by more than 60,000 enterprise users in the UK, US and Australia who open the Blink app more than 15 times per day on average.” Blink is now opening up the platform so any company can sign up on the company website.
