Paris-based Strapi closes $10 million Series A, just months after Accel-led seed round, for open-source CMS

Strapi, a French open-source software for creating digital content, has raised a $10 million Series A from Index Ventures and angel investors. This past October the French startup raised $4 million in seed funding from Accel and Stride.VC. The company hired former Docker head of community, Victor Coisne, as VP of marketing and also announced plans to open its first US office in San Francisco. Billed as a “headless” CMS and functioning as a developer tool, Strapi offers an API that enables companies to distribute content across websites, web and mobile apps, and other IoT devices, with the option to tailor the message to each channel. Founded in 2016 as a school project, Pierre Burgy (CEO), Aurélien Georget (CPO) and Jim Laurie (CTO) have built the company up to the standards of IBM, NASA and Walmart, a few of the startup’s clients. Additionally, the software has about 400 contributes and one million downloads so far. “With the help of our vibrant and growing open source community, we’ve created one of the most customizable and flexible CMS on the market — empowering developers to quickly and easily create robust APIs powering millions of digital projects,” commented Burgy.
