Ambler, a Paris-based medical transportation platform, has raised a €6 million Series A round from Bpifrance via its Digital Venture division, Idinvest Partners, Partech and Kima Ventures. All three VCs participated in the startup’s €1.5 million seed round last year.
The platform helps health institutions manage non-emergency patient transport, such as inter-hospital transfers, by organising transport options (ambulance companies, light medical vehicles and taxis) in a single, streamlined place. The software reduces administrative burden on healthcare staff as well as financial teams, who manage transport invoices and budget allocations.
“Ambler is more than just hospital software, it is also the point of contact between the hospital and the transporters: a one-stop shop for healthcare transport across the entire value chain to simplify, organize and impact the cost and quality of services,” Nicolas Dumont, the startup’s co-founder and product director.
With the new round of financing, the mobility startup wants to expand into travel between the patient's home and the healthcare facility. Transporting people for routine appointments, such as dialysis and radiotherapy, counts for 80 percent of total demand, according to Ambler.
Since its founding in 2018, the French business has convinced 200 public and private hospitals and 500 transport companies to go digital and just opened a new base in Marseille. The team is aiming for nationwide coverage by 2021.
