Hambro Perks, a London-based venture firm and investment management platform, announced it has acquired Ombu, a group comprised of seven environmental tech companies.
The transaction was financed via Hambro Perks Environmental Technologies I LP, (HPET I) a newly-established vehicle focussed on emerging environmental technologies. Hambro Perks, Ombu’s existing management team and the Schroder UK Public Private Trust re the anchor investors in HPET I, alongside a number of private and institutional investors. Further financial terms were not disclosed.
Hambro Perks will take over the portfolio alongside Ombu’s existing management team, including founder and CEO Stephen Brooke and Investment Director Duncan White. Sir John Rose will serve as Chairman of the HPET I and join the Hambro Perks advisory board.
Ombu's portfolio includes Bluewater Bio, a water treatment startup; Iceotop, a cooling technology that reduces data centres' carbon footprints; and P2i, a liquid-repellant coating for electronics that helps them last longer.
"Environmental technology is a sector which is set to experience enormous growth on every continent, as we all look to reduce our impact on the planet and move towards solving important environmental challenges," said Dominic Perks, co-founder and CEO at Hambro Perks.
