Munich-based e-bike reseller Rebike closes €10 million Series-B round

Munich-based Rebike Mobility, which operates ebike-abo.de and rebike.de, has closed a €10 million Series-B round.

BayBG led the round with existing investors Vorwerk Ventures and STS Ventures taking part.

Founded in April of 2018 by Thomas Bernik and Sven Erger, Rebike plans to invest the funds into the subscription platform ebike-abo, as well as expand and strengthen their market position.

"Now is the right time to further expand our market position and scale our business. We are using debt financing for the expansion of our e-bike portfolio to meet the high demand”, says Rebike co-founder Bernik.

Given that Germany is right alongside the rest of us in a global pandemic, the demand for e-bikes has skyrocketed. Over the course of 2020, Rebikes sales rose to nearly €7 million, representing a 120 percent growth rate. This falls neatly inline with German figures; 2 million (new) e-bikes were sold in 2020, with 13.9% of all households reporting a pedelec ownership.

Rebike currently sells pre-loved e-bikes via rebike.de as well as providing the option to rent a new e-bike or e-pedelec for anywhere between three and eighteen months via ebike-abo.

"We see enormous potential in the company, the market and the product. The facts speak for themselves. E-bikes are the means of transportation of the moment, as more and more people want to get around sustainably and healthy. We are very excited to work with Rebike on their mission to shape tomorrow's mobility and make e-bikes accessible to everyone," comments BayBG’s Otto Hopfner.
