Greater Boston-based digital consumer goods company that acquires private label Amazon FBA businesses and direct-to-consumer e-commerce brands, Thrasio has announced the appointment of Georg Hesse as Vice-President UK, DE. Just last year, Thrasio became the fastest profitable U.S. company to ever reach a $1 billion valuation, and apparently, they’re not stopping at the Atlantic ocean.
Hesse started his career with Amazon in 1999 working through music, software & games, home & garden, toys & baby, DIY, and automotive verticals over the course of 16 years. He was responsible for hardlines seller and retail businesses as group director in Germany, including businesses within the largest marketplace seller activity category, Home Living.
"I had a front-row seat for the incredible speed at which Amazon grew, and Thrasio is on a similar trajectory. There has never been a better time for sellers and customers in Europe, but I think the best is still to come and Thrasio is a big part of that story,” commented Hesse.
Thrasio co-founder and co-CEO Carlos Cashman added, "There's no question that Europe is crucial to our global growth, especially the UK and German markets which alone make up over 20% of the world's larger Amazon Private Label Sellers. We have great momentum and a first-mover advantage around the world. This appointment is our commitment to the strategic importance of Europe"
A few months back, our Andrii Degeler sat down with Cashman to discuss Thrasio's plans for Europe, and why a spatula is a perfect product.
Thrasio enters a thriving European marketplace with Berlin-based players SellerX, and Razor Group covering first and second base, while London’s Heroes is aiming to round the hot corner and make a dash for the dish. As we head down the ninth, and they’re all vying to be the first to make the big buys and quick consolidations, will Hesse prove to be Thrasio’s ace or fireman? Time will tell.
