Parisian customer tracking and analytics platform Contentsquare has acquired SMB-focused product experience insights tool Hotjar. The combined teams now number over 1,000 and are expected to work closely together and share expertise, but operate as independent entities. For the time being.
Both companies have their own variants, but essentially offer businesses online consumer behavior analytics. These insights may then be used to optimise the customer journey experience and increase engagement. As a combined unit, Contentsquare stands to benefit from Hotjar’s reach and product-led approach, while Hotjar now has access to Contentsquare’s technology and resources.
Contentsquare CEO and founder Jonathan Cherki comments, “People today expect great digital experiences whenever they are connected — whether they are interacting with big global brands or startups and growing businesses. Coming together with Hotjar allows us to broaden our reach to bring business-critical insights to every type of business across all industries,”
The Hotjar acquisition comes only a few months past Contentsquare’s massive $500 million Series E funding round, where ‘strategic M&A activities’ were specifically mentioned. The financials of the deal were not disclosed.
