Leader in "Snow Mobility" MoonBikes raises $5 million

French startup MoonBikes has raised $5 million in seed funding. The company has created its own vertical, and in so much, is the leader in “Snow Mobility” (although I’m pretty sure Burton and Rossignol might have something to say about that), and produces an eco-friendly electric snow bike. The Saint-Gervais-les-Bains based startup has raised a total of approximately $6.5 million since the beginning of 2019.

If you’ve been paying attention, you might remember my Austrian chalet that could use some interior design help? Well, while that’s being done, and I’m looking to hit the freshly fallen powder before the lifts open, it looks like MookBike has solved my problem. I mean, we save the Heli for group excursions, of course.

Able to mount slopes of up to a 40% grade, clocking almost 42 km/h, and pulling just shy of 120 kgs, for 1.5 hours on one battery, or 3 hours with an optional second, MoonBike is 100% electric, and 100% silent and.

I’m giving it one, maybe two more films before we see the new Bond piloting one of these.

With the US cornering the largest snowmobile market globally and experiencing a 16% surge in sales in 2021, MoonBike has recently opened an office in ski-central, Boulder, Colorado, and is aiming to replicate the success they’ve achieved with European ski centres including Avoriaz, Courchevel, Val D’isere/Tignes.

MoonBike’s seed funding was led by NextStage AM, and includes investments from a number of French and American angel investors active in the legal and finance fields, including former Ardian’s head of funds Vincent Gombault, and Trent Kososki.
