Startup Wise Guys mark a decade of discovering rough diamonds

If tech years are like dog years, Estonian-headquartered Startup Wise Guys ('SWG' for friends) has been around the park a few times.

Since they launched in Tallinn, Estonia in 2012, it's grown to become the largest early-stage B2B accelerator in the central and eastern countries of “new Europe.” They witnessed the birth of the Baltics as a tech hotspot, spread outwards across Eastern Europe, Turkey, Italy, and are launching a program in Africa this week.

We spoke to SWG global chief executive Cristobal Alonso and Cyber Program Managing Director Egita Polanska on their 10th anniversary about their “rough diamonds” strategy, betting on nascent tech ecosystems, and the future of accelerators.
