Three jobs at 2022’s most popular social media platforms

It’s hard to believe that, until relatively recently, social media simply wasn’t a thing. Now, it affects everything from how we shop to how we work and how we communicate with friends and family. It has integrated into every single aspect of our lives.

As a result, social platforms are some of the most popular tools in every company's marketing and communications arsenal. But as we all know, this is an industry that is constantly developing and changing. So, with that in mind, we’re spotlighting some roles at 2022’s most popular platforms - and there are plenty more on our Job Board too.

Facebook

Did you know that 36.9% of the world’s population are Facebook users? It is a pretty staggering number, and while it’s no longer the new kid on the block, Facebook's huge audience means that it simply can’t be ignored. The platform primarily appeals to Millennials, with the largest demographic group being users between the ages of 25 and 35 years.

It’s worth noting that Facebook in its current form won’t be around forever, as founder Mark Zuckerberg pivots the company under its new Meta incarnation.

But right now, you can check out a selection of open roles at Meta. And with offices Europe-wide including Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, the UK, Denmark, Spain, Italy, and Ireland, you’re spoiled for location-based choice too.

TikTok

Experiencing huge growth, TikTok is the newcomer to the pack. The platform enjoyed explosive growth during the Covid-19 pandemic and has a 57% female user base. Additionally, 32% of TikTok users are aged between 25 and 34. This young, female-skewed demographic is powerful - the company only began in 2017 and just two years later, TikTok was one of the top five most downloaded apps in the world.

And it is only growing - many job hunters see a role at the platform as a great way to build a meaningful career. 79% of employees say it is a great place to work and employees are given a lot of responsibility to shape their roles and projects. In Europe, the company has a presence in cities including Paris, Berlin, Dublin, and London.

Pinterest

While Pinterest has been around for a long time – 12 years - the image-sharing platform saw record growth in 2020, gaining more than 100 million monthly active users between January and December of that year.

It now has around 431 million monthly active users and in February 2021, Pinterest reported 459 million monthly active users, which, at 37%, was the biggest year-on-year increase it had ever seen.

As a visual search engine, it offers brands the chance to target customers while they are still at the very beginning of the sales funnel. Plus, it provides users with a seamless purchase experience thanks to built-in links. Pinterest has a large footprint in Europe with offices in Ireland, UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, and France.

Open roles at this female-friendly social platform are available on our Job Board.

Bonus platforms

Of course, there are plenty of other social sites offering growth and as a result, job opportunities. Meta-owned WhatsApp is one. With an impressive two billion monthly active users, the company’s head Will Cathcart has stated that approximately 175 million people send messages to business accounts on WhatsApp every day.

Social media veteran, YouTube was founded in 2005 as a video dating website. Things didn’t go exactly to plan and its three founders, Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, sold the company to Google for $1.65 billion in 2006. Now, it is the internet’s second-largest search engine.

Are you on the hunt for your next social media role? The Tech EU job board has a whole host of exciting possibilities to discover.
