Norwegian hardware company making ‘paper tablets’, reMarkable has now joined the unicorn club after a record-breaking year. The startup has reached a valuation of over $1 billion and has booked $300 million in revenue in 2021, more than double the amount of 2020.
Founded in 2013 by CEO Magnus Wanberg, the startup aims to reproduce the feeling of writing on paper with a digital tablet.
The platform has now reached a new milestone of having sold over 1 million paper tablets since its launch in 2017. Founder and CEO Magnus Wanberg said: “We have now sold over 1 million units of reMarkable 1 and 2. This is a milestone that demonstrates how our products cover a real need, and how we’re able to help people eliminate distractions and improve their everyday workflow.”
According to a company statement, its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (Ebitda) was $31 million, compared to $12 million in 2020.
