Nutracheck, a diet and lifestyle tracking and coaching app based out of the UK, was acquired for an undisclosed sum today by magazine publishing group Immediate Media.
Founded in 2005 and based in Nottingham, Nutracheck's app acts as a food diary and calorie counter keeping track of the nutrients absorbed through the user's meal plan and calculating calorie deficits based on a range of different workouts.
The app incorporates a food database with more than 350,000 product listings, and a barcode scanner for adding items as they're picked from a supermarket's shelves.
Immediate now plans to integrate the software with its content, services and subscriptions package, which counts roughly 1 million paid-for subscriptions across digital and print publications.
Sean Cornwell, CEO of Immediate Media's platforms/digital unit, said: "We’re delighted to welcome the Nutracheck team to Immediate. Nutracheck is the UK’s leading food tracking app, and a great strategic fit for us. "
Following the acquisition, Nutracheck will remain based in Nottingham under the stewardship of its existing management team; CEO Tim Vryenhoef, marketing/communications lead Rachel Hartley, and technical director Paul Cookson.
Immediate Media's UK media portfolio includes BBC Good Food, a cooking and cuisine media brand that includes a monthly magazine, book series and a smartphone app.
