Luminar Ventures has announced the final close of its second fund at just over €65 million. The Seed capital fund is looking to invest in startups hailing from the Nordic region and is sector agnostic, but says it will have a distinctive leaning towards AI, sustainability, and fintech.
Since the first close of the fund, Luminar Ventures has partnered with eight startups, four in Sweden - Run, xNomad, Hypertype, and Yazen - Vibrant and Muninn in Demark, Aviant in Norway and breaking the ice on its first Icelandic investment, it brings Rocky Road into its portfolio.
Plenty of angel investors have taken an interest in the latest fund and Luminar has also launched a Prominent Angel Program. Those angels include Johan Mohlin, Umut Alp, Ted Nelson, Jenny Sinclair, Karin Hallin, Björn Melinder, and Daniel Wisenhoff.
"Our journey, since our initial close of this second fund in 2022, has been super exciting. We've aligned with eight ambitious and talented founding teams across the Nordics. As we are previously founders and angels ourselves, we truly appreciate the value that our angel program can add to our founders and to Luminar, and it helps to shape a comprehensive ecosystem ready to nurture the next generation of Unicorns,” says Jacob Key, Founding Partner at Luminar Ventures.
