Circuland raises €750k for green construction tech

Circuland, a London-based pioneering startup focused on enabling circular economy practices within the construction industry through Digital Material Passports, today announced the successful closure of a €750k pre-seed funding round. The round was led by Apeiron Ventures with participation from Astylab Ventures.

The funds will be used to accelerate Circuland's product development and expand its team, positioning the company as a leader in Digital Material Passports for construction products, buildings and infrastructure. Digital Material Passports act as comprehensive lifecycle records for construction materials, enabling their reuse and recovery of value, transforming buildings into Material Banks. They support sustainable, resource-efficient practices within the built environment, helping to eliminate waste and promote circularity in construction. This approach aligns with the upcoming EU requirements under the Digital Product Passport (DPP) policy, as well as broader sustainability iniDaDves including the EU Green Deal’s Circular Economy AcDon Plan and the EU Taxonomy Regulations.

Circuland’s platform has already gained traction in the UK and Europe with top-tier organizations & Fortune 500 companies, helping reduce carbon emissions and waste from construction by promoting the reuse of materials.

"We are incredibly excited to have the support of Apeiron Ventures and Astylab Ventures," said Anastasia Stella, CEO and Co-founder of Circuland. "This funding will allow us to meet the growing demand for our solutions and drive innovation in the circular economy space within the construction industry." Angelo Mermiklis, CTO and Co-founder, added, “Having witnessed the transformative impact of accessible, transparent data in the Financial Sector, we are bringing this much-needed change to the built environment, turning buildings into true Material Banks."

Representing Apeiron Ventures, Partners Dimitris Kalavros Gousiou and Nikos Antoniou highlighted the transformative potential of Circuland’s technology within the construction industry. “The construction sector is responsible for 40% of global carbon emissions and accounts for 62% of all waste generated in the UK. Despite its vast scale, technological innovation has made little impact thus far. Circuland’s vision aligns seamlessly with our mission to support groundbreaking, sustainable technologies. We believe their digital product passports have the potential to become the benchmark for circular economy solutions in construction, while Circuland’s data warehouse will significantly enhance decision-making in both the construction and maintenance of buildings."
