Switzerland-based Acutronic acquires Spanish robotics tech startup Erle

Erle Robotics, a robotics technology startup company incorporated in Spain’s Basque region, has been acquired by Acutronic Link Robotics, a Swiss company affiliated with the ACUTRONIC Group, specialised in precision motion simulation solutions.

The startup's co-founders Victor Mayoral (CTO) and Carlos Uraga (CEO) will manage the new company. The firm will operate from locations in Spain, Switzerland, and the United States.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Erle was established in 2014 and has since sold thousands of hardware parts for robots and drones, and has executed a number of government contracts for engineering and research projects.

Most recently, Erle was funded by the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)’s Robotics Fast Track program for the development of its proprietary Hardware Robot Operating System (“H-ROS”).

Erle only raised a small amount of seed funding prior to that, from German accelerator TechFounders and business angels.
