Speakerbase merges with Irish startup Speakific to expand its public speaker promotion and booking services internationally

Speakersbase, the Belgian company behind a platform that connects public speakers and event organisers, is merging with a smaller counterpart to expand internationally.

The startup, which bills itself as Europe's largest online provider of public speakers, is joining forces with Ireland-based Speakific, by way of acquisition. Terms of the deal remain undisclosed.

The reasoning behind the deal is that the combination of the two companies' operations will enable them to offer more international speaking opportunities, as well as additional services, to its users.

Founded in late 2016, Speakersbase says its de facto acquisition of Speakific will now take the number of speakers on its platform to just south of 2,000 people located in over 55 countries.

Speakific co-founder Johnny Beirne will henceforth represent Speakersbase (which will be the name of the combined entity going forward) and its range of professional services in the UK and Ireland. Speakersbase has to date been focused mostly on growth in Belgium and The Netherlands.
