Codeship, a Vienna-founded developer platform, has been acquired by US company CloudBees, an application building hub. No terms were disclosed.
Codeship is a continuous delivery (CD) platform for developers and has more than 100,000 users on the platform. It was founded in 2011 in Vienna before branching out into Berlin and Boston. It is now headquartered in the latter and has raised more than $11 million from Ascent Venture Partners, Sigma Prime Ventures, and others.
“Our employees will benefit from the opportunity to join such a highly regarded organization known for its commitment to excellence in CI and CD,” said Codeship CEO Moritz Plassnig on the deal. “Our customers’ investments in Codeship tools will receive the backing of CloudBees’ global customer service, support and success resources.”
Plassnig and Codeship’s employees will be joining CloudBees as the two’s services are integrated. The acquisition will expand CloudBees’ portfolio of continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) services.
“With Codeship, we want to provide organizations an additional option that is self-service and easy to use,” commented Sacha Labourey, CEO of CloudBees. “This acquisition ensures that CloudBees will be able to offer a range of CI/CD solutions, from cloud, self-service and opinionated to on-premise, self-managed and fully customizable - all through a smooth and unified experience.”
