With deal flows always having a lag between action and announcement, the beginning of this year was, slow, at best. However, as we enter Q2 there's been somewhat better indicators that the European tech ecosystem is alive and kicking.
According to the Tech.eu database, European tech companies raised €5.3 billion over 412 deals throughout March 2023. These numbers might be promising, particularly when compared to the previous month when European tech companies raised (only) €3.6 billion through 374 deals (which shows a 47% increase in March 2023).
On the other side, compared to the same period last year, it's still a significant drop of 34% with almost the same number of deals (in March 2022, European tech companies raised €8 million in 404 deals).
