Cellwize, an Israeli startup in mobile network automation and orchestration, has raised a $32 million Series B funding round in its parent company Cellwize Wireless Technologies, led by Intel Capital and Qualcomm Ventures with participation from Verizon Ventures, Samsung Next and existing shareholders. Founded in 2012 and now headquartered in Singapore, the company’s goal is “to accelerate 5G in a way that is open and disaggregated,” said Ofir Zemer, CEO of Cellwize. According to a press release, CHIME, the company’s next generation RAN automation and orchestration platform, has seen “significant market traction” over the last year and played a role in 5G rollouts for global carriers such as Verizon, Telefonica and Mobifone. The system uses artificial intelligence and machine learning for zero-touch 5G deployment and automating 2G/3G/4G/5G network optimisation, allowing network operators to work faster and build their needs on top of the platform.
Cellwize will use the fresh funding to expand into adjacent markets, such as private LTE/5G networks, and to continue developing CHIME, particularly its AI and machine learning capabilities. Four years ago the Israeli company acquired CrowdX, a crowdsourced network analytics startup, after it raised $24.5 million. Previous investors include Viola Ventures, DTCP, GreenApple Tech, Vintage Investment Partners and Sonae IM.
